EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the transverse section of the Small Theater in Palace Caserta, offering a mesmerizing view into its intricate stage design. Created between 1700 and 1773 by Luigi Vanvitelli, an Italian architect from Naples, this masterpiece captures the essence of grandeur and elegance. The detailed pen drawing is brought to life with black gray ink and brush strokes, enhanced by a delicate touch of gray wash. The artist's freehand underdrawing adds depth and dimension to the composition while graphite traces beautifully highlight every architectural element. As we delve into this image, our eyes are drawn to the figures gracefully depicted on stage. Their presence adds a sense of drama and anticipation to the scene. Compasses and ruled construction lines hint at meticulous planning behind this architectural marvel. Measuring approximately 11 3/16 x 12 ¾ feet (284 x 324 cm), this artwork demands attention with its sheer size alone. It is evident that great skill was employed in capturing every minute detail of this theater's interior. Artokoloro has masterfully reproduced this extraordinary piece from their collection known as Liszt Collection. This print allows us to appreciate not only Vanvitelli's genius but also Artokoloro's commitment to preserving artistic heritage for generations to come.
