Framed Print of Sweden prepares for war. In 1940
Sweden prepares for war. In 1940, work at the Army's Central Clothing Workshop was in full swing. Located at Fleminggatan 103 in the Kungsholmen district of Stockholm, the facility produced large quantities of military uniforms. Every detail - from buttons to rank insignia - was meticulously sewn on site. Pictured here is a young woman sewing and finishing uniform details such as insignia and buttons. Although Sweden remained neutral during the Second World War, the country undertook extensive military preparations. The production of uniforms and equipment increased significantly, with thousands employed in textile workshops across the country. Women played a vital role in this effort, contributing skilled labour to ensure the armed forces were properly outfitted in case of mobilisation. July 1940. Kristoffersson ref. 140-8
