Nikola Tesla sits next to his amplifier transmitter, which could generate millions of volts. Multi-exposure photo, December 1899, Colorado Springs, USA Nikola Tesla (10 July 1856 in Smiljan - 7 January 1943 in New York City) was one of the great inventors of the 19th and 20th centuries. His inventions in the field of electrical engineering in particular were and still are of great importance today. The two-phase alternating current system he developed still determines the way we transmit electrical energy today. In the so-called electricity war of 1890, George Westinghouse, who favoured Tesla's system, prevailed over Thomas Edison's system. Since then, Tesla's technology has determined the development of power grids in the USA and later worldwide. On 20 March 1900, Tesla received his first patent for wireless energy transmission, which is now regarded as the first patent for radio technology. In his honour, the Nikola Tesla Museum is now located in Belgrade, where many of his inventions can be seen. Here is also his. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
