Josef Stalin, portrait from 1902, police photo from the Batum Gendarme Administration Josef Vissarionovich Stalin (18 December 1878, Gori, Georgia - 5 March 1953, Kuntsevo near Moscow) was a Soviet politician of Georgian descent. After Lenin's death, he succeeded in seizing power in the Soviet Union. He ruled the Soviet Union dictatorially from 1927 until his death in 1953. During the attack by fascist Germany on the Soviet Union in 1941, Stalin was also commander-in-chief of the Red Army. He held this office until 1947. Even in front of the October Revolution, Josef Stalin was active underground and as a revolutionary. He spent the period from 1901 to 1917 in illegality and was arrested several times and exiled to Siberia. However, he also managed to escape time and again. He organised strikes, raised money for the Bolsheviks through blackmail and bank robberies and even then did not shy away from violence. During this time, he also changed his name in 1912 to the fighting name

Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
