Framed Prints From Historic England
Framed Print of Steel House JLP01_10_05841
Steel House, Redcar and Cleveland. The office buildings for the headquarters of the British Steel Corporation at Redcar from the north west.
Laing was awarded the contract for the office buildings in 1974 and the construction was completed in October 1977. The main office buildings are a group of four nested hexagonal sections each with a different elevation, these link to the computer building on the right hand side of the image, again hexagonal in plan. The exterior is clad in precast concrete panels with a brick finish effect and there are steel panels on the computer building.
