Pluto as seen from New Horizons spacecraft, 2015. Pluto nearly fills the frame in this image from the Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI), taken on July 13, 2015, when the spacecraft was 476, 000 miles (768, 000 kilometers) from the surface. This is the last and most detailed image sent to Earth before the spacecrafts closest approach to Pluto on July 14. The color image has been combined with lower-resolution color information from the Ralph instrument that was acquired earlier on July 13. This view is dominated by the large, bright feature informally named the heart which measures approximately 1, 000 miles (1, 600 kilometers) across. The heart borders darker equatorial terrains, and the mottled terrain to its east (right) are complex. However, even at this resolution, much of the hearts interior appears remarkably featureless - possibly a sign of ongoing geologic processes. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
