The portrait is part of a collection of 239 drawings and illustrations, which includes depictions of archaeological finds, nature scenes, cityscapes, maps, and satirical albums. The collection, housed at the Tobolsk Museum of History, Architecture, and Preservation in Russia, provides an intriguing glimpse into the people and physical conditions of West Siberia during the 19th century. The subject of this portrait is a woman, elegantly dressed in the fashion of the time. She wears a colorful, intricately patterned dress with a high neckline and long sleeves, accessorized with a shawl draped around her shoulders. Her expression is serene, and her gaze is fixed on an unseen horizon, suggesting a sense of contemplation or introspection. The use of watercolor creates a soft, ethereal quality to the image, with the woman's features delicately rendered and the colors blending seamlessly into one another.
