EDITORS COMMENTS
In this woodcut print from the Historica Graphica Collection, we are transported to a realm where magic and mystery intertwine. The scene depicts an intriguing encounter between two witches, one dressed in black and the other in white, accompanied by a devilish creature on a lead. The contrasting colors of their attire symbolize opposing forces at play - light versus dark, good versus evil. The British countryside serves as the backdrop for this enigmatic rendezvous, its exact location shrouded in secrecy. Both witches exude an air of power and confidence as they stand side by side. Their pointed hats hint at their deep connection with witchcraft and esoteric knowledge. The devil animal that accompanies them adds an element of intrigue to the composition. With its piercing eyes and menacing presence, it is clear that this creature holds great significance within their mystical practices. This woodcut print offers us a glimpse into a world beyond our own - one where ancient rituals and supernatural forces reign supreme. It invites us to ponder the duality of human nature and explore the depths of our own beliefs about magic and spirituality. As part of Heritage Images' collection on esoterica, this artwork reminds us of humanity's enduring fascination with the unknown realms that lie just beyond our grasp.
