EDITORS COMMENTS
This print by Nick Brundle Photography showcases the magnificent Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor, Egypt. The temple, located in the ancient city of Thebes on the west bank of the Nile River, is a testament to the grandeur and spirituality of Egyptian civilization during the New Kingdom era. The image captures the barren landscape surrounding the temple, emphasizing its isolation and connection to death. Backlit by sunlight, it exudes tranquility and invites contemplation about the past. The color image beautifully highlights every intricate detail of this architectural marvel. As one's gaze follows a row of statues leading up to an imposing facade, it becomes evident that this place was once a sacred site for worship and tribute. The columns and sculptures stand as remnants of an ancient civilization that flourished over 3,000 years ago. The temple's location amidst desert mountains adds to its mystique and allure. It is believed that Hathor, an Egyptian goddess associated with beauty and nature, was worshipped here. This photograph not only captures a famous landmark but also serves as a window into ancient Egyptian culture. It reminds us of our connection to history and archaeology while showcasing the enduring beauty found in nature's most extreme terrains.
