EDITORS COMMENTS
Captured by the talented photographer Gail Johnson, this stunning print showcases the iconic Roker Lighthouse in Sunderland during a truly powerful storm. Aptly titled "Going Going Gone" the image perfectly encapsulates the sheer force of nature and its ability to challenge even the most remarkable human creations. The Grade II listed Roker Pier and lighthouse have stood proudly since their opening in 1903, bearing witness to countless storms and turbulent weather conditions. In an era that witnessed extraordinary engineering marvels like Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridge and Paxton's Crystal Palace, this architectural masterpiece held its own as a true triumph of design. As we gaze upon this breathtaking photograph, we are reminded of both man's ingenuity and his vulnerability when faced with nature's raw power.
