Smith, Rhode University ichthyologist slumbers in a bare room in Durban, after his return from a 3, 300 mile plane flight with what he described as one of the most amazing discoveries ever made in science. In the case beside his cot is the discover -- a five foot long prehistoric fish called a coelacanth, long thought to have been extinct for millions of years. Prof. Smith said that he hoped to link between fish and amphibian reptiles. Recovery of the fish from the remote island in the Comoro Isles was the culmination of 14 years of search during which Prof. Smith tramped thousands of miles along the eastern seaboard of Africa. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang.
