EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print titled "Harlem 125th Street Platform" photographer Matthew Marshall captures the essence of anticipation and diversity in one of New York City's most vibrant neighborhoods. The image showcases a bustling platform at Harlem 125th Street, where commuters eagerly await their respective trains. The composition is filled with an array of people from different walks of life, each lost in their own thoughts or engaged in conversations. The diverse range of expressions on their faces tells stories untold – hopes, dreams, and aspirations that converge on this very platform. Marshall masterfully uses light and shadow to create depth and contrast within the frame. The play between natural sunlight streaming through the station's windows and artificial lighting creates a dynamic atmosphere that adds to the overall mood of the photograph.
