Framed Print of Charles Townes Operating an Atomic Clock

(Original Caption). Professor Charles H. Townes, executive of the physics department at Columbia University, is shown with the atomic clock in the university's physics dept. The device, called the MASER (short for Microwave Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) can measure time with greater accuracy than has ever been possible before. For the first time it exceeds, by a considerable margin, the currently accepted standard of the earth's rate of rotation. The device may also be used as an amplifier of radio signals in the microwave frequency range. Unleash your creativity with premium art prints that turn any room into a visual masterpiece.
