(Original Caption). Cosmic Ray Hodoscope. The Cosmic Ray Hodoscope, an instrument for observing and studying cosmic rays by making their paths visible, is to be exhibited at the Chicago Century of Progress. Dr. Charles Johnson, Assistant Director of Bartol Research Department of Swarthmore College, is shown examining the Geiger-Mueller Cosmic Ray Counter tubes in back of the hodoscope. The paths of the cosmic rays are seen as rows of flashing lights controlled by sensitive cells, these cells being activated by the cosmic rays themselves. The sensitive volume of the hodoscope is 10 inches wide by 9 inches high by 4 inches deep. Through this volume may be seen the paths of about 30 rays a minute. Unleash your creativity with premium art prints that turn any room into a visual masterpiece.
