RTG9036169 L'altare d'argento, 1684 (argento intagliato) by Marinelli, Domenico (active 1668-1692); (add.info.: L'altare d'argento che si trova nel transetto di destra della Basilica ha una preistoria che risale al 1319. In quell'anno infatti fu donato, con tutte le decorazioni argentee, dallo zar di Serbia Uroš II Milutin, andando a coprire la tomba del Santo nella cripta. Per i mutati gusti artistici, nel 1684 la Basilica commissionò a due artisti napoletani (Domenico Marinelli ed Ennio Avitabile) il rifacimento dell'altare. Fu così completamente fuso con altra suppellettile sacra e rifatto in stile barocco. Si è così perduto un capolavoro slavo-bizantino e se ne è creato uno barocco. Tutt'intorno vi sono scene della vita del Santo. Dopo i restauri del 1957 l''ltare non fu ricollocato sulla tomba di S. Nicola, ma trasferito nell'abside di destra della Basilica superiore. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees!
