Framed Print of RELIGIOUS PROCESSION IN THE KURSK PROVINCE, 1881-1883 (oil on canvas)

7215295 RELIGIOUS PROCESSION IN THE KURSK PROVINCE, 1881-1883 (oil on canvas) by Repin, Ilya Efimovich (1844-1930); Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow, Russia; (add.info.: RELIGIOUS PROCESSION IN THE PROVINCE OF KURSK
1881-1883//Oil on canvas
Repine remembers the lessons of open-air painting and skillfully composes her group with characters from different social classes, giving them a real individuality. The painter is not so much interested in the majestic reliquary as in the small icon worn by a middle-aged middle-aged woman. Repine exhibited painting in 1883 at the eleventh Salon of the Society for Travelling Art Exhibitions. Opinions are divided, some praising his boldness and expressiveness, others accusing him of betraying the religious convictions of the people.); Photo © Sylvain Collet. © © Sylvain Collet / Bridgeman Images
