NAM5926669 Pattern 1968 combat smock in Disruptive Pattern Material camouflage by British School, (20th century); National Army Museum, London; (add.info.: Pattern 1968 combat smock in Disruptive Pattern Material camouflage.
The British Army began to adopt camouflage combat uniforms, known as DPM (Disruptive Pattern Material), from 1960. When the 1968 pattern was issued, they became the first force to universally adopt a camouflage uniform.
This smock is associated with the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards, who wore uniforms like this during the Battle of Mount Tumbledown in the Falklands War (1982). The British Army also wore this style of combat uniform in Northern Ireland during The Troubles (1969-2007).); National Army Museum, London, UK.
