7069633 Mme Darsonval, Paris, 1897-99 (wool, silk and lace) by French School, (19th century); length, waist: 109.2x61 cm; Manchester Art Gallery, UK; (add.info.: Grey wool and silk poplin. Lined throughout with pink corded silk. Bodice centre section is trimmed with a pleated grey silk frill edged crem lace, crossing and fastening over left front. Front lining fastening centre front. High standing collar, stiffened and fastening on left. Hem bound with pink silk bias strip. Shaped and stiffened epaulettes. Bodice trimmed with frills and lace. White petersham inner waistband. Separate skirt opening centre back. Pleats fastening to each other at back covering opening. Waistband trimmed and gathered into bow either side of opening, ends falling loose down back. Three grey chiffon roses spaced down right side seam. Hem trimmed and stiffened. Inner skirt frill of pinked pink silk. Pocket to left of centre back. Printed label on waistband : Mme. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
