EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of an ancient Egyptian artifact - the Leopards head from the Tomb of Tutankhamun. Created during the New Kingdom period, this wooden sculpture is covered with gesso and overlaid with gold, reflecting the opulence and grandeur associated with pharaohs. Standing at a height of 17.5 cm, this intricately carved piece was believed to have been attached to leopard skins worn by priests during sacred rituals. The eyes, made from translucent quartz, add a lifelike quality to this majestic feline representation. Displayed in the Egyptian National Museum in Cairo, Egypt, this artifact offers us a glimpse into the rich history and cultural significance of Ancient Egypt. It symbolizes power and strength as leopards were revered for their agility and hunting prowess. The Leopards head is adorned with intricate details such as cartouches - oval-shaped hieroglyphic inscriptions that identify royalty or important individuals. This further emphasizes its connection to Tutankhamun himself, who reigned as King of Ancient Egypt during his short but impactful rule. Preserved through time, this remarkable artwork continues to captivate viewers today. Its presence serves as a testament to human creativity and ingenuity across centuries. As we admire it through this print by Bridgeman Images from Fine Art Finder's collection, we are transported back in time to witness the splendor of one of history's most enigmatic civilizations - Ancient Egypt.
