EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the intricate wood carving of "Adam and Eve" from a choir stall, dating back to 1526. Created by the talented Rigoley Brothers, this masterpiece can be found in the Church of Montreal sur Serein in France. The image depicts Adam and Eve standing beneath the iconic Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, symbolizing their fateful encounter with temptation in the Garden of Eden. The attention to detail is remarkable, as every curve and line on their figures is meticulously carved into the wood. As we gaze upon this medieval artwork, we are transported back in time to witness the moment when humanity's story began. Adam stands tall, representing the first man created by God himself. Beside him stands Eve, his partner and companion who was formed from his rib. The presence of a serpent coiled around the tree reminds us of Satan's cunning seduction that led to mankind's fall from grace. This scene captures both innocence and vulnerability as Adam and Eve face their ultimate test - whether or not to partake from forbidden fruit. With its Renaissance influences evident in its style and craftsmanship, this stunning piece serves as a testament to human creativity throughout history. It invites us to reflect on our own choices between good and evil while appreciating artistry that has stood the test of time.
