EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print titled "The Seventh day of the Decameron" artist Paul Falconer Poole transports us to a scene straight out of Giovanni Boccaccio's renowned literary work. Set against a breathtaking landscape of majestic mountains, we find ourselves immersed in a tale of love, music, and camaraderie. A group of individuals gathers by the poolside, their faces filled with joy and anticipation. Among them are both men and women, each exuding an air of elegance and sophistication. The atmosphere is alive with the sound of music as a talented harpist strums his instrument passionately. As our eyes wander across the composition, we notice that these characters are not merely listeners but active participants in this poetic moment. Their animated expressions suggest they are engrossed in lively conversation or perhaps sharing anecdotes from their own lives. The serene beauty surrounding them serves as an idyllic backdrop for their gathering. The towering mountains stand tall and proud, seemingly embracing this harmonious union between literature and nature. Poole's skillful brushwork brings every detail to life – from the intricate folds in the characters' garments to the shimmering reflections on the water's surface. Through his artistry, he invites us into this enchanting world where poetry intertwines with reality. "The Seventh day of the Decameron" is more than just a visual representation; it captures the essence of human connection through storytelling and shared experiences.
