EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the bustling energy of St. Paul's and Ludgate Hill in London, circa 1887. Painted by William Logsdail, this oil on canvas artwork measures 73.3x55 cm and is held in a private collection. Christie's Images has expertly photographed this masterpiece, showcasing its intricate details and vibrant colors. The scene depicted in the painting transports us back to a time when steam engines ruled the streets of London. The cityscape is teeming with activity as carriages, omnibuses, and pedestrians navigate through the crowded thoroughfare. Horses trot alongside these vehicles, adding an element of grace amidst the chaos. St. Paul's Cathedral stands majestically at the heart of this lively scene, its grandeur contrasting with the hustle and bustle below. The bridge spanning over Ludgate Hill adds depth to the composition while framing this iconic landmark.
