Framed Print of Republican National Convention, June 21, 1904, engaged in the opening prayer

Republican National Convention, June 21, 1904, engaged in the opening prayer. A large portrait of the late Senator Mark Hanna, the kingmaker of President Theodore Roosevelts predecessor, William McKinley, hangs in a prominent position. Hanna was on the record as calling Roosevelt a madman and cowboy. The portraits presence was a message of resistance from the Republican Old Guard to the incumbent President Roosevelt (BSLOC_2019_8_111).
