The BAKER test of Operation Crossroads, July 25, 1946. 2 seconds after the underwater detonation, the birthday cake on a platter stage of the explosion cloud formed. 2 million tons of water rises, towering about the target ships. At the cloud base a wall of spray, mist and air sweeps outward as millions of tons of water fell back into the lagoon. (BSLOC_2015_2_7).
