EDITORS COMMENTS
Great photo capturing a pivotal moment in the 2001-2002 Barclaycard Premiership season between Manchester United and Arsenal. In this image, Thierry Henry of Arsenal (wearing the number 14 jersey) celebrates with Arsenal's defensive stalwart, Sol Campbell, and midfielder, Robert Pires, after Kanu's (number 17) goal gave Arsenal a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford on May 8,2002. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric as Manchester United, who had won the previous three Premiership titles, faced Arsenal, who were aiming to secure their third title in four years. The first half ended goalless, but Arsenal came out strong in the second, with Kanu breaking the deadlock in the 52nd minute. Manchester United pressed hard for an equalizer, but Arsenal's defense, led by Campbell and the impressive Ashley Cole, held firm. This victory was particularly sweet for Arsenal fans, as it came after a 3-3 draw at Old Trafford earlier in the season, which many felt Arsenal had thrown away. The win also saw Arsenal secure the Premiership title, their third in four years, and solidified their status as a dominant force in English football. This photo is a testament to the fierce rivalry between Manchester United and Arsenal and the excitement of a high-stakes Premiership match. The determination and focus of the Arsenal players, particularly Kanu, are evident in their expressions, making this an iconic image in the history of both clubs.
