EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases an exquisite piece of art nouveau from 1898, depicting the enchanting tale of Sleeping Beauty. The knight tenderly kisses the slumbering princess, evoking a sense of timeless romance and magic. Art Nouveau, also known as the Modern Style, emerged as an international movement during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It encompassed various forms of art, architecture, and decorative arts across different countries. Jugendstil in German, Stile Liberty in Italian, and Modernisme catala in Catalan are just a few names by which this style is recognized. The original edition of this artwork comes from a private collection that has been carefully preserved throughout the years. Sourced from Jugend Band 1 - 1898 and drawn by Fritz Erler from Munchen (Munich), it exemplifies the elegance and grace characteristic of art nouveau. During its heyday between 1890 and 1910, art nouveau flourished amidst the Belle Epoque period before being overshadowed by World War I's onset in 1914. This particular print captures both the essence of this artistic movement and its connection to classic fairy tales like Sleeping Beauty (Dornroschen). Immerse yourself in this mesmerizing depiction where beauty meets chivalry—a true testament to human creativity transcending time.
