Poster produced for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER), promoting rail travel to the Wolsey Pageant in Ipswich, Suffolk, showing figures in 16th century dress representing Cardinal Wolsey, Henry VIII and other Tudor characters. The pageant was produced by Nugent Monck (1877-1958), founder of the Maddermarket Theatre in Norwich. Cardinal Thomas Wolsey (1471-1530) was born in the county town of Ipswich and went on to become Lord Chancellor and Chaplain to King Henry VIII. Artwork by Picking
