Amidst the final chapters of the First World War, this hauntingly evocative image captures the damaged remains of a German Fokker D.VII fighter plane on an airfield. The single-seat aircraft, manufactured by the renowned German aviation company Fokker, was a formidable force in the skies during the latter stages of the war. Powered by a 180 hp Mercedes engine, it was a biplane with a top speed of over 118 mph, making it one of the fastest and most maneuverable fighter planes of its time.
