The Percival Mew Gull is a two-seat, single-engine, low-wing monoplane, which was produced by the Percival Aircraft Company in Luton, Bedfordshire, England, between 1937 and 1940. The Mew Gull was renowned for its advanced design features, including a cantilever wing, retractable landing gear, and a streamlined fuselage. It was also known for its excellent handling characteristics, making it a popular choice among private pilots and flying clubs. G-AEXF, in particular, was a special aircraft, as it was one of the last Mew Gulls to be built before the production line was converted to produce military aircraft during World War II. The plane was originally delivered to its first owner, a private pilot named J.H. Jones, in May 1940.
