To the left of the lower steps, the sinister Lockit, played by Bryan Drake, holds his wife Lucy, portrayed by the luminous soprano Heather Harper. In the right foreground, Polly, played by the esteemed mezzo-soprano Janet Baker, is forcibly restrained by the manipulative Peachum, portrayed by Harold Blackburn, and his wife Mrs. Peachum, played by Anna Pollak. This image encapsulates the tension and drama of this iconic production, which took place at Jubilee Hall in Aldeburgh on June 20, 1963.
