Apsley House, also known as Number 1, London, was built in the late 18th century for the First Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley, who famously led the British Army to victory in the Battle of Waterloo. The room's name derives from the distinctive striped wallpaper that adorns its walls, which adds a sense of grandeur and sophistication to the space. The geometric design of the wallpaper is beautifully complemented by the intricate detailing of the ceiling, which features a central medallion surrounded by delicate rosettes and acanthus leaves.
