EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the majestic Mount Teide, a towering volcanic peak located on the enchanting Canary Islands off the coast of Africa. Rising to an impressive height of 3187 meters or just over 12,000 feet, it proudly claims the title of Spain's highest point. As the third tallest volcano in the world, Mount Teide has a rich history of eruptions dating back centuries. Legend has it that Christopher Columbus himself witnessed its first eruption during his iconic voyage in 1492 while passing Tenerife. The indigenous Gaunches people revered this sacred mountain as Guayota's dwelling place - Guayota being their devilish deity. Today, Mount Teide is classified as dormant but scientists predict an imminent eruption. The surrounding area forms part of the esteemed Teide National Park and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its unique flora and fauna. It is home to rare plant species like White Broom and the vibrant Teide Daisy that thrive exclusively on these volcanic slopes. Drawing nearly three million visitors annually, this natural wonder serves as a vital tourist attraction for Tenerife's economy. Despite its allure, reaching temperatures between -5 and -10 degrees Celsius at its summit during winter adds an element of challenge for those who dare to explore this breathtaking landscape. Jimmy Dunn captures alluring beauty in this remarkable print from Fine Art Storehouse, allowing viewers to marvel at Mount Teide's grandeur and appreciate nature's awe-inspiring creations.
