The steamer in the picture was bought in about 1815. It was built on the Clyde and shipped to Angostura on the Orinoco where it was used it to provide a transport service for the army of Simon Bolivar the liberator of Venezuala from the empire of Spain. It was similar to the Comet, the first steamship built on the Clyde in 1810. It was the first ever steamship ins America
