Cadmus gives the Greeks an Alphabet (litho)

8660838 Cadmus gives the Greeks an Alphabet (litho) by Weatherstone, A.C. (fl.1888-1929); Private Collection; (add.info.: Cadmus gives the Greeks an Alphabet. Tradition relates that letters were first introduced into Greece by a Phoenician named Cadmus, who is also said to have built Thebes. Whether this is true or not, the form of the alphabet seems to clearly show that it was derived from the Phoenicians, with whom the Greeks had very early intercourse.
