EDITORS COMMENTS
A heartwarming moment captured in this print as the Rawthorpe Youth Club came together for a charity football match that raised an impressive £250 for the Jolene Kaye appeal. The game took place at Rawthorpe High School playing fields and was brilliantly organized by Clifford Benjamin, a dedicated member of the youth club. The focus of this charitable endeavor was nine-month-old Jolene, a brave little girl from Dalton who is scheduled to undergo a life-saving £10,000 heart operation on November 15. Born with Downs Syndrome, Jolene faces multiple challenges including two holes in her heart and problems with her heart valves. In this touching image, we see Emma, Jolene's sister, graciously accepting the cheque on behalf of their family. Standing beside her are their loving parents John and Angela, along with brother Benjamin. It is truly inspiring to witness such unwavering support from both the community and loved ones during these trying times. This snapshot not only captures the joyous spirit of children engaging in sport but also showcases how sportsmanship can be harnessed for a greater cause – fundraising for vital healthcare needs. This event serves as a reminder that when communities come together with compassion and determination, incredible things can happen.
