The focus of this image is a beautifully preserved fossil of Wasatchites tridentinus, an extinct ammonoid cephalopod belonging to the class Cephalopoda and the phylum Mollusca. Ammonoids are a diverse group of extinct molluscs characterized by their spiral shells, which are intricately ornamented with ribs and other features.
