EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time to 1920 aboard the R.M.S.P. Almanzora with this photograph of the Social Hall on board. Originally launched in 1914, this historic vessel served as an Armed Cruiser during World War I before being reconverted into a liner for civilian use. The Almanzora was an important part of maritime history, carrying passengers across the seas with Royal Mail Steam Packet Company.
In this image, we see a glimpse into the elegant and luxurious social hall where passengers would gather for entertainment and relaxation during their voyage. The ornate decor and comfortable seating evoke a sense of nostalgia for a bygone era of travel.
Sadly, the Almanzora met her end in 1948 when she was scrapped after decades of service. However, photographs like these serve as a reminder of her place in history and the memories created on board.
This print from Mary Evans Prints Online allows us to transport ourselves back to a time when ocean liners were more than just modes of transportation - they were floating palaces that offered luxury and comfort to those who sailed on them.
