EDITORS COMMENTS
1. Title: A Glimpse into Exeter's Past: Mols Coffee House Transformed into the Fred Keetch Art Gallery (circa 1960s) 2.. Step back in time with this photograph of Exeter's Mols Coffee House, now the Fred Keetch Art Gallery, located in the heart of the historic Cathedral Close in Devon. Dating back to the 1590s, this ancient building, with its distinctive gothic architecture, once served as a popular coffee house. In this image, taken in the 1960s, we see the transformation of the Mols Coffee House as it undergoes a new life as an art gallery. The red van parked outside hints at the changing times, as the city of Exeter continues to evolve. The former coffee house's entrance, adorned with a simple sign, invites visitors to explore the gallery. A balcony extends from the upper floor, offering a vantage point to take in the beauty of the surrounding area. Through the large, arched windows, one can catch a glimpse of the interior, where artworks are displayed for all to enjoy. The pavement outside is bustling with activity, as people of all ages – adults and children – gather, waiting their turn to enter the gallery. A pushchair can be seen in the foreground, adding a touch of everyday life to this snapshot of history. This photograph not only showcases the rich heritage of Exeter but also highlights the city's ability to adapt and preserve its past while embracing the modern world.
