Born in Marseille, Falguiere was a prominent French sculptor of the late 19th century, known for his realistic and expressive figures. The photograph, taken between the years 1831 and 1900, reveals Falguiere deeply engrossed in his work, with a sculpture in progress visible on the table before him.
