Lake Tai Collection

Lake Tai is a large freshwater lake located in the Yangtze River Delta of China, and is the third largest freshwater lake in China and one of the five largest freshwater lakes in Asia. The lake has a surface area of 2,250 square kilometers and an average depth of 2 meters, and is surrounded by four provinces: Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Shandong. Lake Tai has been an important source of water for irrigation since ancient times and it continues to be used for this purpose today. The lake also provides habitat for numerous species of fish, birds, amphibians and other wildlife. In recent years, it has become increasingly polluted due to industrial runoff from nearby factories as well as agricultural runoff from surrounding farms. Despite this pollution threat, Lake Tai remains an important source of drinking water for millions living in the region as well as a popular destination for tourists seeking to enjoy its natural beauty.
