William Henry Millais Collection

William Henry Millais was an English painter and illustrator who was a founding member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. He is best known for his romantic works, which often depict scenes from literature, such as "Mariana" (1851) and "Ophelia" (1852). His later works were more naturalistic in style, such as "The Boyhood of Raleigh" (1871). Millais also worked in other media, including stained glass windows and book illustrations. He received numerous awards during his lifetime, including the Order of Merit in 1896. He died in 1896 at the age of 76. His work continues to influence modern art today.
