Jean Pierre Marie Jazet Collection

Jean Pierre Marie Jazet (1788-1871) was a French painter and lithographer. He was born in Paris and studied under Jacques Louis David. He is best known for his portraits of famous people, including Napoleon Bonaparte, King Louis XVIII, and the Duke of Wellington. He also painted landscapes, genre scenes, and historical subjects. His works were exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1812 to 1845. In addition to painting, he was also a lithographer who produced prints of his own work as well as those of other artists such as Jean-Baptiste Greuze and François Gérard. Jazet's work is characterized by its attention to detail and its use of light to create atmosphere in his compositions. His works are held in many museums around the world including the Louvre Museum in Paris and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
