Francesco Furini (1603-1646) was an Italian Baroque painter and draughtsman. He was born in Florence, where he trained with his father, a miniaturist. He then moved to Rome, where he studied under the guidance of the Carracci family. His style was influenced by Caravaggio and Guercino, as well as by Raphael's frescoes in the Vatican Loggie. Furini is best known for his religious paintings and mythological scenes, which often feature dramatic lighting effects and strong chiaroscuro contrasts.
