EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we see a supposed Holy man dressed as Hanuman, the revered Hindu monkey god, striking a pose for photographs in Durbar Square, Kathmandu. The city's vibrant energy and rich cultural traditions come to life through this image. Standing indoors with an intricate robe and ornate jewelry adorning his waist up, the male figure exudes an air of spiritualism and devotion. His elaborate costume and decorative face paint highlight the deep-rooted religious customs that are integral to Nepalese society. The attention to detail is mesmerizing - from the colorful headpiece to the carefully crafted mask held in his hand. Every accessory adds depth and meaning to his posturing as he holds a sceptre symbolizing power and authority. As one gazes into his eyes captured by Don Smith/Robert Harding's lens, it becomes evident that this holy man embodies not only the physical representation of Hanuman but also carries within him centuries-old beliefs and values cherished by millions across Asia. This photograph serves as a window into Nepal's spiritual heartland where religion intertwines seamlessly with everyday life. It invites us to explore the depths of our own spirituality while immersing ourselves in the beauty of another culture.
