EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print captured by Michael Runkel/Robert Harding, we are transported to the vast deserts of Djibouti in Africa. Against a backdrop of an endless blue sky, an Afar tribeswoman is seen leading a caravan of camels on her way home near Lac Abbe. The image beautifully portrays the essence of a desert journey, where people and animals rely on each other for survival. The woman's vibrant traditional attire stands out against the arid landscape, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Afar tribe. With determination etched on her face, she guides her loyal companions through the unforgiving terrain with grace and expertise. Camels have long been known as "ships of the desert" and they play a crucial role in transportation across these harsh lands. These majestic creatures are perfectly adapted to endure extreme temperatures and scarcity of water, making them ideal companions for long journeys like this one. As we gaze at this photograph, we can't help but feel inspired by the resilience and strength displayed by both humans and animals alike. It serves as a reminder that even in challenging environments, life finds its way to thrive. This stunning image captures not only a moment frozen in time but also tells us stories about travel destinations off-the-beaten-path and showcases nature's breathtaking beauty found within Republic of Djibouti.
