EDITORS COMMENTS
This print transports us back to the bustling streets of London in the early 1900s. The scene captures the essence of a vibrant city, with its diverse array of people, structures, and modes of transportation. In the foreground, we see a horse-drawn carriage making its way down Grays Inn Road, while a double-decker bus filled with passengers passes by. Pedestrians crowd the pavements, dressed in fashionable attire that reflects the style of the era. Gas street lights illuminate the scene as day turns into night. The focal point of this image is undoubtedly The Oysterhouse Lighthouse standing tall amidst all this activity. Its distinctive architecture adds character to an already lively street corner in Kings Cross. Advertisements for various shops adorn nearby buildings, showcasing products and services available at that time. Looking closely at this photograph allows us to appreciate how much has changed over time while also recognizing familiar elements that still exist today. It serves as a reminder of London's rich history and enduring charm. This remarkable print from TopFoto captures a moment frozen in time - an authentic glimpse into London's past during the twentieth century.
