EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the enchanting city of Khartoum in Sudan, on a serene day in December 1924. The focal point of this image is the magnificent Gordon College, seen from the North West angle. Standing tall amidst a backdrop of lush trees, this grand building exudes an air of elegance and intellectual pursuit. The Gordon College holds immense historical significance as a beacon of education in Africa during the early twentieth century. Named after General Charles George Gordon, also known as "Gordon of Khartoum" it served as a hub for knowledge and enlightenment. Students from diverse backgrounds flocked here to expand their horizons and shape their futures. The monochrome aesthetic adds depth and timelessness to this photograph, transporting us back to an era where simplicity reigned supreme. It captures the essence of European influence on African soil while showcasing the harmonious coexistence between nature and architecture.
