Amelia Earhart, US aviation pioneer

Amelia Earhart (1897-1937), American aviation pioneer. Earhart was the first woman to cross the Atlantic by air as a passenger (1928), fly solo across the Atlantic, setting a new record of 13 hours and 30 minutes (1932), and fly from Hawaii to California (1935). In 1937, Earhart attempted to become the first woman to fly around the world. Her plane, with her navigator Fred Noonan also on board, disappeared on 2 July 1937 whilst flying over the Pacific Ocean from New Guinea to Howland Island. No trace of the plane or crew was ever found

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the essence of Amelia Earhart, a trailblazing figure in American aviation history. Born in 1897, Earhart made remarkable achievements that forever etched her name in the annals of flight. She shattered gender barriers by becoming the first woman to cross the Atlantic as a passenger in 1928 and later achieved an even more astonishing feat - flying solo across the Atlantic herself in 1932, setting a new record with an impressive time of 13 hours and 30 minutes. Earhart's daring spirit led her to further groundbreaking endeavors. In 1935, she embarked on a journey from Hawaii to California, showcasing her unwavering determination and skill as a pilot. However, it was during her ambitious attempt to circumnavigate the globe that tragedy struck. On July 2nd, 1937, while flying over the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean from New Guinea to Howland Island with navigator Fred Noonan by her side, their plane mysteriously vanished without leaving any trace behind. The disappearance sparked countless theories and conspiracy speculations but ultimately left no answers. Amelia Earhart's legacy lives on as an inspiration for generations to come.
