Bevelled wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, the Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. In this evocative black-and-white photograph, Hawker Sea Fury FB.10 (TF947) of 803 Squadron Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) gracefully flies over the majestic deck of HMCS Magnificent on 6 May 1948. The Sea Fury, a British single-engine, carrier-borne fighter aircraft, was a formidable addition to the Fleet Air Arm (FAA), the naval aviation branch of the Royal Navy. The Royal Canadian Navy's 803 Squadron, based at CFB Shearwater in Nova Scotia, was one of several squadrons to operate the Sea Fury. This particular aircraft, TF947, wears the distinctive markings of the RCN, including the maple leaf insignia on its rudder. The backdrop to this scene is the impressive flight deck of HMCS Magnificent, a Colossus-class aircraft carrier, which served in the Royal Navy from 1944 to 1957. The carrier, with its distinctive island superstructure and flight deck, provided a vital platform for the FAA, enabling the RCN to project power from the sea and defend against aerial threats.
