EDITORS COMMENTS
In this electrifying moment captured by photographer Scott Heavey during the Sky Bet Championship match between Reading and Bolton Wanderers in the 2014-15 season, Brazilian midfielder Lucas Piazon celebrates the scoring of his first goal for Reading Football Club. The ecstatic expression on his face is a testament to the significance of the goal, not only for himself but also for the team and their fans. The Brazilian international, who had joined Reading on loan from Chelsea in the summer of 2014, had been eagerly anticipated by the Reading faithful as a potential game-changer. However, his early performances had been underwhelming, and doubts began to emerge about his ability to make an impact in the Championship. But all that changed in this match against Bolton Wanderers. In the 32nd minute, Piazon received the ball on the edge of the penalty area, took a few touches to create some space, and then unleashed a powerful left-footed shot that flew past the Bolton goalkeeper and into the back of the net. The crowd erupted in jubilation as Piazon ran towards the corner flag, pumping his fists in the air and shouting in delight. His teammates rushed over to congratulate him, and the Brazilian's relief and joy were palpable. The goal not only boosted his confidence but also gave a much-needed lift to the team, who went on to win the match 3-1. This photo captures the raw emotion and excitement of the moment, encapsulating the passion and drama of football. It serves as a reminder of the highs and lows that come with supporting a football team and the thrill of witnessing a player's breakthrough moment.
